The Good of the Tribe

Book & Lyrics:  Harvey Parker

Music:  Joe Ferrante

Love, faith, trust and understanding surrender themselves to prejudice and bitter desperation as two couples – one straight, one lesbian – both fight to adopt the same little girl; while the Manager of the orphanage, his Assistant and a staunchly conservative Board of Directors throw down their own gauntlet and plunge recklessly into bloody battle.  As so often happens in our Society, it is the child who is forgotten when the adults become the children.  As the child’s fourth birthday approaches, everyone’s emotions reach fever pitch, and winning – at all costs – is the name of the game.

This fresh new musical play sings of the issues of today in the voice of today.  A fervent underscoring of the word family – family with  its myriad meanings in our contemporary Society.
